Yesterday I posted pictures and a video tutorial showing two small mini albums in a tin box.. The albums were accordion albums.
Accordion albums are easy to assemble. In the pictures shown here, I have used playing cards to show you how to put one together.
You could make an album out of playing cards. In fact, I think I am going to do just that fairly soon.
However, it is more typical to use card stock or other firm papers.
In the pictures shown, note that the spine will be made of ribbon. You could also cut strips of paper to form the spine. In this case, you would fold each strip into a mountain fold so the album will fold properly.
In the picture to the top, note that the ribbon goes underneath the first of the four cards. It is glued into place, and if you are making an album in a box, you would glue this card down in the box’s bottom. The ribbon reaches over top of the following three cards. It is glued into place.
The next step is to place three cards OVER TOP of the ribbon, forming three layouts with a usable surface on each side. These cards are glued into place and your layouts are ready to decorate.
Naturally, you can make as many layouts as you want. The size of your box or container will a consideration, as you want to be sure the finished album will fit inside the box and the top will close nicely.
There are many uses for accordion albums. Fitting them in a box is but one.
