My favorite swap group, Art for the Creative Mind, had a tussie mussie swap. It was to be Victorian themed. I started out with a certain idea in mind, but somehow I ended up making these small tussie mussies instead. I call them Navaho Victorian.
They silver and turquoise was inspired by the beautiful Navaho jewelery that one can buy in the southwest of the United States.
To make these small nosegays, I cut four semi circles from silver colored beer can material. The material is surprisingly easy to cut and to work with.
Next, I ran the semi circles through the Big Shot, using a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. I think it was called Swirls or something like that.
I rolled the embossed semi circles into cone shapes as shown. They hold their shape beautifully and require no additional glue or adhesive.
I had some turquoise glass beads in my stash. I strung the beads on silver wire to create the handle and the embellishments at the bottom.
Lastly, I used a couple of small floral punches to make flowers out of white vellum, and a small leaf punch to make a green leaf. I sewed the flowers together and sewed a small white bead in the center.
I think these small tussie mussies would make a nice set of table decorations.
